Biomass Facility Will Fill Power Shortage For Small Town In British Columbia
A spotlight currently shines on the subject of biomass and how it might be used effectively and profitably now and in the near future. A heavily forested region of British Columbia, Canada, may have the answer.
Combining the power generated from burning wood waste with the services of BC Hydro could be the key to solving some of the electricity problems that are typical in serving the Mount Robson Valley area of B.C.
The proposed 24 megawatt biomass power station would be the second step of a two-step project, following the construction of a 5 megawatt standalone CHP system for a four-hectare aquaculture building, as well as a four-hectare greenhouse - a cold storage facility and a vernicultural facility attached to the horticulture/aquaculture setup.
BEP Powertech Corp, a vision of BEP Engineering headquartered in Surrey, BC, stands ready, willing, and able to provide a Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management (EPCM) role in both of these projects, all located near McBride, B.C.
“We look forward to being involved in this much-anticipated project and in seeing the benefit to the local community at its completion,” says Bernie Pahlke, President and Owner of BEP Powertech Corp.
If funding allows, BEP Powertech Corp. will partner with ecoTECH Energy Group, Inc. and begin work immediately. EcoTech is a development-stage renewable energy company which specializes in the development and operations of thermal, 24/7, "firm" electricity supply from zero-carbon-footprint power stations. The Group’s ultimate goal is to manufacture biomass-fuelled power stations that produce renewable and sustainable, green energy products.
The new power supply near the Town of McBride will help ensure that all residents living in this area between the Canadian Rockies and the Cariboo Mountains have sufficient electricity. Currently the area struggles with reoccurring brownout problems resulting from sagging voltage.
