Global Interest In Log-Master Sawmills Leads to More Dealership Opportunities

Milling one’s own lumber using a portable mill is becoming a popular activity in many countries around the world. Between demand from custom sawyers, private landowners, hobbyists, and entrepreneurs, production of portable mills at Log-Master has picked up as international interest in portable bandsaw mills increases.

“There are Log-Master portable band saw sawmills in almost every country where there are trees,” says Herman Gibson, Co-Owner and Sales Manager at Log-Master. This includes countries in Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia. “We also sell factory direct throughout the United States.”

To keep up with demand, Log-Master is always on the lookout for international dealership opportunities to help facilitate these overseas sales.

Log-Master is a proven name in the industry and is in demand due to the company’s high level of success which has been built on innovation from its very beginnings. For example, Log-Master was the first to put large diesel engines on sawmills to increase production. Log-Master is also the only company in the U.S. to develop and use hydraulically driven bandwheels to drive the 30-inch solid steel bandwheels on the majority of its models.

Right now there is a Log-Master portable mill model available for milling any sized tree in North America. That includes trees that are 30 or 72 inches, and everything in between, says Gibson. “These are simply the biggest and heaviest portable mills in North America.”

In total, Log-Master builds six models of hydraulic sawmills and two models of edgers. The biggest mill model yet, nicknamed the “Catzilla”, is 14 feet wide by 14 feet tall and can cut anything in America, Gibson says. There are currently two Catzilla mills in Texas and one is en route to Ohio.

The most popular Log-Master model remains the LM 4 sawmill. It weighs 7,500 lbs and comes fully loaded and ready to work, powered by a 51 HP Caterpillar diesel engine and the photo-quick setworks, with 30" diameter bandwheels. These powerhouse machines are 37 and 1/2 feet long, 8 and 1/2 feet wide, and 11 feet tall.

Each of Log-Master’s sawmill models use solid steel (not cast steel) 30" diameter bandwheels, except the LM 1, which uses a 19” solid steel bandwheel.
