Registration for the 2012 US Biochar Conference is Now Open.

The United States Biochar Initiative (USBI) selected the Sonoma Biochar Initiative (SBI) in partnership with the Sonoma Ecology Center to host the 2012 US Biochar Conference in Sonoma County, California from July 29 to August 1, 2012.

The 2012 US Biochar Conference is designed to advance our understanding of the economic, science and policy issues related to biochar as both an amendment for soils as well as an agent to sequester carbon. California’s reputation for progressive policy and venture capital resources provide an excellent setting to showcase new innovative technologies like biochar. The conference is focused on practical results, especially regarding biochar use in agriculture.

Sonoma County is a prime location to visit in mid-summer. Tours will be available to local wineries and farms. The conference sessions will be held at Sonoma State University, where very reasonably priced three-night on-campus housing package is offered, others may choose to stay in nearby hotels. Scholarships may be available, especially for students and representatives from underserved communities.
