Eastpoint Residents Return to ‘Total Devastation’ after Fire

As the smoke cleared Tuesday, the devastation wrought by Sunday evening’s Lime Rock wildfire came sharply into view.

Residents were allowed to return Tuesday morning to the 36 properties along Ridge and Wilderness roads, bordering the southwestern edge of Tate’s Hell State Forest. Where they had lived just days before stood nothing but blackened stumps, a layer of fine ash and piles of debris, the residue from a fast-moving wildfire that torched about 820 acres early Sunday evening in a matter of a couple hours. read more >>
