Emerald Ash Borer Found in Halifax Co. For First Time

The emerald ash borer was found in Halifax County for the first time, making it the 36th county within the state where this invasive insect has been detected.

James N. Slye, east forest health specialist for the North Carolina State Forest Service said a trap was placed at Medoc Mountain State Park the Friday before the Fourth of July holiday after the beetle had been found in Warren County.
