$1 Million Grant Awarded to Plant, Recycle Trees in North and West Long Beach

The Conservation Corps of Long Beach received a $1 million grant from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in underserved communities by recycling and planting 2,000 new trees, it was announced Friday, July 20.

The grant is specific to north and west Long Beach because the communities show higher rates of asthma and other respiratory related issues and are often overlooked by conservationist programs in the city, said Dan Knapp, the corps’ executive director. read more >>
