The province has widened the closure of a forestry area around the Devil’s Head wildfire and expanded the effort fighting it.
On Thursday the area northwest of Calgary closed to the public was expanded, running from the east boundary of Banff National Park to Highway 40 and extends from the Ghost River north to Township 29.
“The closure is in place for public safety. Wildland firefighting crews, vehicles and aircraft from Alberta Agriculture and Forestry are conducting suppression operations on the wildfire,” said Alberta Wildfire spokeswoman Melissa Story.
